Celtics beat Falcons for a spot in the LWBL semi-finals


The Celtics became the first team to earn a spot in the LWBL semi-finals on Wednesday night. The Celtics used a balanced scoring attack along with some great defense to get the win. The Celtics were led in scoring by Kyle L. and Ian K. who scored 8 points a piece. Also scoring for the Celtics was Jackson H. with 5 points, Dillon S. and Rudy M. with 4 points each, and Nick B. with 2 points. Scoring for the Falcons was Dylan R. and Sarah S. with 2 points each, Nick F. and Sydney C. scored 1 point each.

At halftime, the teams participated in a shoot-out to see who would represent their team in the shoot-out finals at halftime of the Championship game. Rudy M. and Faith C. advanced for the Celtics, and Nick F. and Maddy D. advanced for the Falcons.

Today we have two playoff games to figure out who will make it to the semi-finals. The game at 4:00 is between the Bulls and Salukis, the 5:00 game will be the Hawkeyes and Heat. The semi-finals will be played on January 7th when we come back from winter break, and the championship will be played Tuesday, January 8th. Good Luck to all the remaining teams.

LWBL Week 3 update

The regular season of the LWBL has come to a close and playoffs start today December 19th. Here is how the rest of the regular season games played out.


Monday December 10th

Hawkeyes 36 Heat 23
The Hawkeyes improved their record to 2-2 as they defeated the Heat. Jake K. led the Hawkeyes in scoring with 16 points. Also scoring for the Hawkeyes was Hailey F. with 8 points, Max S. with 6 points, Brian M. with 4 points, and Holter G. with 2 points. The Heat were led in scoring by Matthew F. with 13 points. Also scoring for the Heat was Annie M. with 4 points, and Mark L. and Nicholas W. with 3 points each. The Heat dropped to 2-3 on the season with the loss.

Tuesday December 11th

Bulls 43 Salukis 35
The Salukis continued to show improvement but came up a little short in losing to the Bulls. The Bulls used a balanced offense attack with 3 players leading the team in scoring with 10 points each. Jon M., Ryan B., and Lila A. all chipped in 10 points each for the Bulls. Also scoring for the Bulls was Jake G. with 5 points, and Keegan M., and Kendall T. with 4 points each. The Salukis were led in scoring by Andrew K. who had a game high 21 points. Also scoring for the Salukis was Chloe Z. with 6 points, Zoe K. with 5 points, Ian H. with 2 points, and Tyler B. with 1 point. The Bulls moved to 2-2 with the win, and the Salukis moved to 0-4 with the loss.

Hilltoppers 21 Celtics 19
It was a battle of two undefeated teams in the LWBL on Tuesday night. The Hilltoppers eventually came out on top with both teams showing some great defense. The Hilltoppers got most of their scoring from Jayden J. who scored a game high 16 points. Also scoring for the Hilltoppers was Devron S. with 3 points, and Ryan W. with 2 points. The Celtics were led in scoring by Ian K. with 8 points. Also scoring for the Celtics was Kyle L. with 6 points, Jackson H., and Brian P. with 2 points each, and Faith C. with 1 point. With the win, the Hilltoppers move to 4-0, while the Celtics moved to 3-1 with the loss.

Wednesday December 12th


Bulls 30 Hawkeyes 27

The Bulls and Hawkeyes played another great LWBL game that came down to the wire. The Bulls were able to get the win and improve to 3-2 on the season. The loss dropped the Hawkeyes to 2-3. Leading the Bulls in scoring was Ryan B. with 10 points. Also scoring for the Bulls was Ashley M. with 9 points, Keegan M., and Jon M. with 4 points each, Jacob G. with 2 points, and Lila A. with 1 point. Leading the Hawkeyes in scoring was Hailey F. with 12 points. Also scoring for the Hawkeyes was Jake K. with 8 points, Holter G. with 3 points, and MaxS., Brian M. with 2 points each.

Thursday December 13th

Hilltoppers 31 Heat 24
The Hilltoppers made it 5-0 as they stayed unbeaten by defeating the Heat. The Hilltoppers were led in scoring by Jayden J. with 20 points. Also scoring for the Hilltoppers was Devron S., and Ryan W. with 4 points each, and Kyle C. with 2 points, and Kyle M. with 1 point. Leading the Heat in scoring was Matthew F. with 9 points. Also scoring for the Heat were Annie M. with 6 points, Jack L. with 5 points, and Mark L., and Luke H. with 2 points each. With the loss, the Heat's record now is at 2-4.

Friday December 14th

Salukis 22 Falcons 20
The Salukis got their first win of the LWBL season on Friday night. The Salukis were able to hold off a late rally by the Falcons at the end for the victory. The Falcons dropped their record to 1-4 with the loss. Leading the Falcons in scoring was Max D. with 10 points. Also scoring for the Falcons was Dylan R. with 5 points, and Sarah S., and Nick F. with 2 points each. The Salukis were led in scoring by Andrew K. with 13 points. Also scoring for the Salukis was Zoe K. with 4 points, Tyler B. with 2 points, and Chloe Z., Ian H., and Jenny C. with 1 point each. The Salukis improved to 1-4 with the victory.

Monday December 17th

Hawkeyes 33 Falcons 12
The Hawkeyes moved to 3-3 on the LWBL season with a fairly easy victory over the Falcons. The Hawkeyes were led in scoring by Jake K. with 9 points. Also scoring for the Hawkeyes was Rohan U., and Holter G. with 7 points, Nicholas S. with 4 points, and Max S., Katie S., and Hailey F. all added 2 points each. The Falcons ended their regular season at 1-5 with the loss. The Falcons were led in scoring by Sarah S. with 6 points. Also scoring for the Falcons was Maddie D., Dylan R., and Sydney C. with 2 points each.

Salukis 31 Hilltoppers 30
The Salukis continue to be the most improved team in the LWBL as they knocked off the undefeated Hilltoppers in the final regular season game for both teams. The win improved the Salukis record to 2-5, and the loss drops the Hilltoppers to 5-1. The Salukis were led in scoring by Andrew K. with 19 points. Also scoring for the Salukis was Morgan H. with 4 points, Tyler B., Zoe K., and Chloe Z. with 2 points each, and Ian H., and Jenny C. with 1 point each. The Hilltoppers were led in scoring by Jayden J. with 14 points. Also scoring for the Hilltoppers was Kyle M. with 6 points, Devron S. with 4 points, Emma K., Ryan W., and Ryan J. with 2 points each.

Tuesday December 18th

Celtics 55 Bulls 44
The Celtics and Bulls combined for almost 100 points on Tuesday night. The Celtics put up the highest point total of the season and finished the regular season at 5-1. Leading the scoring for the Celtics was Ian K. with 23 points. Also scoring for the Celtics was Dillon S. with 12 points, Brian P. and Kyle L. with 6 points each, Jackson H. with 4 points, Rudy M. with 3 points, and Nick B. with 2 points. The Bulls were led in scoring by Jacob G. with 21 points. Also scoring for the Bulls was Ryan B. with 17 points, Lila A. with 4 points, and Keegan M. with 2 points. The Bulls finished their regular season at 3-3.

LWBL week 2 update

We are now in week 3 of the LWBL season. The following is a recap of games from week 2.

Tuesday December 4th

Hilltoppers 27 Hawkeyes 25
Jayden J. led all scorers in the game with 15 points for the Hilltoppers. Also scoring for the Hilltoppers was Kyle M. with 6 points, Devron S. with 4 points and Kyle C. with 2 points. The Hawkeyes were led in scoring by Jake K. with 12 points. Also scoring for the Hawkeyes was Max S. with 5 points, Hailey F. with 4 points, and Nicholas S., and Kaitlyn S. with 2 points each. The Hilltoppers stay undefeated with the win at 2-0, while the Hawkeyes fall to 1-1 on the season.

Heat 30 Salukis 13
In the second game of the night, the Heat used a balanced scoring attack with some great defense to come away with the victory. Leading the Heat in scoring was Nick W. with 10 points. Also scoring for the Heat was Matthew F. with 8 points, Annie M. with 6 points, and Luke H., and Jack L. with 4 points each. Andrew K. led the Salukis with 11 points, and Chloe Z. added the other 2 points for the Salukis. With the win the Heat move to 2-1 on the season, and the Salukis fall to 0-3.

Wednesday December 5th


Celtics 37 Falcons 26
The Celtics moved to 3-0 on the season with another victory over the Falcons. Leading the scoring for the Celtics was Ian K. with a game high 24 points. Also scoring for the Celtics was Dylan S. with 7 points, Jackson H. with 4 points, and Kyle L., and Nick B. with 2 points each. Leading the Falcons in scoring was Dylan R. with 14 points. Also scoring for the Falcons was Max D. with 10 points, and Sydney C. with 2 points. The loss drops the Falcons record to 1-2.

Thursday December 6th

Celtics 40 Hawkeyes 19
The Celtics moved to 4-0 on the season with a convincing victory over the Hawkeyes. Ian K. led all scorers again with 17 points. The Celtics had 7 other players contribute points, they were: Dylan S., and Jackson H. with 6 points each, John L. with 3 points, and Kyle L., Brian P., Faith C., and Rudy M. with 2 points each. The Hawkeyes were led in scoring by Max S. with 7 points. Also scoring for the Hawkeyes was Haily F. with 5 points, Holter G. with 3 points, and Nick S. and Jake K. with 2 points each. With the loss the Hawkeyes fall to 1-2 on the season.

Hilltoppers 32 Falcons 17
The Hilltoppers stayed unbeaten and kept pace with the Celtics as they improved to 3-0 on the season. The Hilltoppers were led in scoring by Jayden J. with 16 points. Jayden J. showed that he can hit the outside shout as well as drive to the basket as he connected on two 3 point field goals in the 3rd quarter to put the game away. Also scoring for the Hilltoppers was Kyle C. with 6 points, Devron S. with 4 points, and Ryan W., Ian P., and Emma K. with 2 points each. The Falcons were led in scoring by Max D. with 9 points. Also scoring for the Falcons was Nayeli S. with 4 points, Dylan R. with 2 points, and Josie A., and Sarah S. with 1 point each. With the loss, the Falcons move to 1-3 on the season.

Friday December 7th

Bulls 24 Heat 22
In a back and forth game that was very close the Bulls pulled out a victory over the Heat. Leading the Bulls in scoring was Jake G. with 8 points. Also scoring for the Bulls was Ryan B., and Keegan M. with 6 points, and Ashley M. and Lila A. with 2 points each. The Heat were led in scoring by Matthew F. with 8 points. Also scoring for the Heat was Jack L. with 4 points, Mark L. and Nicholas W. with 3 points each, and Luke H. and Hannah C. with 2 points. With the win the Bulls improved to 1-2 on the season. With the loss the Heat moved to 2-2.

LWBL update

We have now completed just over a week of the season, and every team is showing a lot of improvement with each game.


On Thursday last week, the Hawkeyes won their first game of the LWBL season by defeating the Salukis by the score of 29-14. The Hawkeyes used a balanced offense and a good defense to claim the victory. Leading the scoring for the Hawkeyes was Holter G. with 10 points. Also scoring for the Hawkeyes were Hailey F., Jake K., and Max. S. with 4 points each, Rohan U. with 3 points, and Nick S., and Brian M. with 2 points each. The Salukis were led in scoring by Andrew K. with 6 points. Also scoring for the Salukis were Tyler B. with 4 points, Zoe K. with 3 points, and Chloe Z. with 1 point.

Friday featured a game between two very evenly matched teams. The game was back and forth with the Falcons holding off the Bulls by a score of 24-23. The Falcons were led in scoring by Maddie D. with 8 points. Also scoring for the Falcons were Dylan R. with 6 points, Nick F., and Max D. with 4 points each, and Sydney C. with 2 points. The Bulls were led in scoring by Ryan B. with 9 points. Also scoring for the Bulls were Jon M. with 7 points, Jacob B., Lila A., and Ashley M. with 2 points each, and Keegan M. with 1 point.

Last night featured another close game as the Celtics held off a late 4th quarter rally by the Heat to win 24-21. The Celtics were led in scoring by Nick B. with 9 points. Also scoring for the Celtics were Brian P., Jackson H., and Dillon S. with 4 points each, and Kyle L. with 3 points. Leading the Heat in scoring was Mark L. with 8 points. Also scoring for the Heat were Nicholas W. with 5 points, Matthew F. with 4 points, and Annie M, and Jack L. with 2 points each.

First week of LWBL

The LWBL started on Monday, and three games have been completed so far. On Monday, the Hilltoppers defeated the Bulls by a score of 32-26. Leading the Hilltoppers in scoring was Jayden J. with 17 points. Also scoring for the Hilltoppers were Kyle M. with 7 points, Devron S. with 6 points, and Kyle C. with 2 points. The Bulls were led in scoring by Ashley M. with 8 points. Also scoring for the Bulls were Jacob G. with 6 points, Ryan B. and Jon M. with 5 points, and Lila A. with 2 points.

On Tuesday, the Celtics used a balanced offense and some great defense to defeat the Salukis by the score of 37 to 14. Leading the Celtics in scoring was Ian K. with 15 points. Also scoring for the Celtics were Dillon S. with 8 points, Faith C., and Jackson H. with 4 points each, and Brian P., Rudy M., and Kyle L. with 2 points each. The Salukis were led in scoring by Andrew K. with 10 points. Also scoring for the Salukis were Tyler B. with 2 points, and Catherine H., and Chloe Z. with 1 point each.

Last night, the Heat trailed by 5 points going into the 4th quarter, and were able to pull out a victory 14-12 over the Falcons. Both teams played some great defense, and were finally able to get the offense going late in the game. Leading the Heat in scoring was Matthew F., and Jack L. with 4 points each. Also scoring for the Heat were Luke H., Annie M., and Nick W. with 2 points each. Leading the Falcons in scoring was Max D. with 5 points. Also scoring for the Falcons were Josie A. with 4 points, Dylan R. with 2 points, and Jack T. with 1 point.

LWFL week #3

We managed to fit in 2 games this week with all the rain. On Monday, the Gators found themselves down early 27-0. The Gators never gave up but fell short on their comeback and lost to the Ducks 35-26. On Tuesday, the Leathernecks stayed undefeated with a 28-9 victory over the Patriots. The Patriots led at the half 6-0, but the Leathernecks stepped up their defense and offense and won 28-9.

We had two games rained out this week. An updated schedule will be handed out on Monday at school. Monday will still be the Irish vs Patriots

LWFL week 2 update

We had three games this past week in the LWFL. On Tuesday, the Gators used a very strong defense in defeating the Patriots 29-6. On Wednesday we had a meeting of two undefeated teams between the Leathernecks and the Gators. The game stayed pretty close until the 4th quarter when the Leathernecks pulled away for a 51-32 victory. On Thursday the Irish got off to a fast start and a 12-0 lead on the Ducks. The Irish were unable to hold onto the lead as the Ducks came storming back for a 37-19 victory. There are still 2 weeks of the regular season to go, and each team is improving. LWFL week 1 update

We had games on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday last week that have not been reported. On Tuesday, the Patriots defeated the Irish 40-14. The game was very close in the 1st half, and then the Patriots pulled away with some great offense and defense, allowing just one second half touchdown.

The game scheduled for Wednesday between the Ducks and Leathernecks was rained out and postponed until Friday. On Thursday, the Leathernecks finally got to play their first LWFL game against the Irish. The Leathernecks used a very balanced offense attack and put up the highest amount of points so far this season, as they beat the Irish by the score of 60-13.

The Leathernecks got to play two days in a row as they played the Ducks on Friday. The game between the Ducks and Leathernecks was the closest game so far this season. Both teams played some great defense, holding each other out of the endzone for most of the game. The Leathernecks led the game 20-15 with just a few seconds remaining, the Ducks had one last chance to take the lead on a hail mary pass. The pass was caught around mid-field and the Leathernecks made the grab of the flags to seal the victory.

The next LWFL game is Tuesday October 9th between the Patriots and the Gators.

Gators defeat Irish for first LWFL win

The Gators built a comfortable lead early and defeated the Irish 32-10 Monday night in the LWFL. The Gators used a balanced attack highlighted by a great catch and run for a Touchdown by Annie M. The Gators also used some good defense to get some points on the board as Matthew F. intercepted an Irish pass and returned it for a Touchdown! The next LWFL game will be Tuesday night between the Irish and the Patriots.

LWFL

The Louise White Flag Football League started last night. This year we have 5 teams in our league. This year we have the Ducks, captained by Dylan R, the Leathernecks, captained by Ryan B., the Patriots, captained by Dylan K., the Gators, captained by Jake K., and the Irish, captained by Ryan W.

Last night the Ducks used a very strong defense to defeat the Patriots 54-14. After the tough 1st quarter, the Patriots were able to put a few nice offensive drives together and find the endzone twice. The next game will be on Monday, October 1st between the Gators and the Irish. Congratulations to both the Patriots and Ducks on a well played game!

JDRF



This year we are doing something new at LWS. We are doing a walk and raising money to help find a cure for diabetes. We had a kick-off assembly last Friday in the gym where students learned all about diabetes and why we are trying to raise money. On Wednesday October 3rd, all LWS students will be walking around the path that goes around the softball field to celebrate raising money for JDRF. All students will be walking during their specials time for the first 20-25 minutes. Students can collect donations for the next few weeks, all donations are due on October 19th.

Welcome to the 2012-2013 School Year

It's been a while since I posted on here and we are already in Week 6 of the school year. 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders have just completed their fitness testing. At LWS we use the Presidential fitness test. The test includes:

1 minute curl-ups (muscular endurance)

pull ups (muscular strength)

sit and reach (flexibility)

shuttle run (agility)

1 mile run or 1/2 mile for 3rd grade (cardiovascular endurance)


The students are encouraged to do their best, and set goals that they would like to achieve by the end of the school year. We will be testing again in April.

3rd, 4th and 5th graders will be starting a tennis unit next week.


K, 1st and 2nd graders have been playing lots of games to improve loco-motor skills such as running, skipping, hopping, jumping, sliding, and galloping. The K, 1st, and 2nd graders are currently playing games to practice and improve overhand and underhand throwing.

Bulldogs win LWBL Championship


The Bulldogs are the winners of the 2012 LWBL Championship. The Bulldogs got a late basket from Dylan S. with about 15 seconds left to take a 1 point lead. The Huskies drove the ball up the court quickly, and Trent W. was fouled with no time left on the clock. Trent W. was unable to sink one of the two free throws giving the Bulldogs the 29-28 victory. The Bulldogs were led in scoring by Dylan S. with 13 points. Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Drew L. with 8 points, Isaac S. with 4 points, and Julia H., and Andy M. with 2 points each. Leading the Huskies in scoring was Carter G. with 15 points. Also scoring for the Huskies were Trent W. and Jon M. with 4 points, Riley G. and Anna L. with 2 points, and Nick B. with 1 point.

Congratulations to Eddie T. and Lindzie N. who were the shoot-out winners at halftime.

LWBL Championship game preview



It's down to the Bulldogs and Huskies for the LWBL Championship on Tuesday May 29th. The Bulldogs come into the game with a record of 5-1, and the Huskies come into the championship game with a record of 4-2. The Bulldogs and Huskies played each other once this season, back on April 16th. In that game Jessica H. hit a buzzer beater to give the Bulldogs a 30-28 victory. According to our online poll, The Bulldogs are getting a slight edge in coming out on top in the championship game. Looking forward to another well played LWBL championship game! Illini edge Wolverines for 3rd place finish.


The third place game in the LWBL came down to the last few possessions. The Illini were able to get a basket late to take a 36-34 lead, the Wolverines raced up the floor for a final shot, but the tough defense by the Illini would not let them get a final shot off securing a 36-34 victory. The Illini were led in scoring by Andrew K. with 20 points. Also scoring for the Illini were Brianna M. with 8 points, and Max S., Evan M., Ryan W., and Josie A. with 2 points each. The Wolverines were led in scoring by Cade P. with 13 points. Also scoring for the Wolverines were Joe S. with 12 points, Anthony M. with 4 points, Charlie B. with 3 points, and Hailey F. with 2 points. With the 3rd place finish, the Illini finish their season with a 5-2 record. With the loss, the Wolverines finish their season with a record of 4-3. Congratulations to both teams on a great 2012 LWBL season.

Bulls beat Irish to reach Consolation Final


The Bulls picked up another LWBL victory Monday night as they beat the Irish 49-37 to reach the LWBL consolation final. The Bulls lead from the beginning to the end, holding a comfortable double digit lead throughout the game. Leading the scoring for the Bulls was Eddie T. with 22 points. Also scoring for the Bulls was Marko Y. with 14 points, Ryan B. with 11 points, and Lila A. with 2 points. The Irish were led in scoring by Matt F. with 15 points. Also scoring for the Irish were Dami I. with 11 points, Dylan R. with 8 points, Anthony G. with 2 points, and Kristen A. with 1 point. The Bulls will play the winner of the Wildcats/Panthers game in the consolation final on Wednesday. With the loss, the Irish season has come to an end. Huskies will meet Bulldogs in LWBL championship after knocking off the Wolverines


The LWBL Championship game is all set with the Huskies narrow 1 point victory over the Wolverines 33-32 on Friday night. The Wolverines had a shot to tie or win it at the free throw line with 4 seconds remaining, but they couldn't get one of the free-throws to fall. The Huskies were able to get the rebound after the 2nd attempt went off the rim and ran out the remaining 4 seconds. The Huskies were led in scoring by Riley G. with 9 points. Also scoring for the Huskies were Anna L., and Trent W. with 8 points, and Nick B., and Jon M. with 4 points each. The Wolverines were led in scoring by Charlie B. with 16 points. Also scoring for the Wolverines was Cade P. with 6 points, Cassie N., and Anthony M. with 4 points, and Hailey F. with 2 points. With the loss the Wolverines will try for one more victory as they will face the Illini in the 3rd place game.

Bulldogs earn LWBL championship berth with comeback win over Illini


The Bulldogs found themselves down 9 points against the Illini going into the 4th quarter of the first LWBL semi-final game. With a spot in the championship game on the line, the Bulldogs responded with a huge 4th quarter run and a 40-36 victory. The Bulldogs will await the winner of the Wolverines-Huskies semi-final for the LWBL championship. With the loss, the Illini will now try and get another victory for a 3rd place finish. Leading the scoring for the Bulldogs was Dylan S. with 17 points. Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Drew L. with 12 points, Hannah T. with 4 points, Isaac S, Julia H., and Andrew S. with 2 points, and Marla R. with 1 point. For the Illini the leading scorer was Max D. with 14 points. Also scoring for the Illini were Andrew K. with 8 points, Max S. and Brianna M. with 4 points, and Ryan W., Miguel G., and Josie A. with 2 points each.

Huskies earn spot in the semi-finals with big 4th quarter


With the scored tied at 19-19 heading into the 4th quarter, Carter G., and Trent W. stepped up big for the Huskies combining for 13 points and a 34-27 Huskies victory. The win gives the Huskies a spot in the LWBL semi-finals and will play the Wolverines for a spot in the LWBL Championship on Friday. The loss drops the Panthers into the consolation bracket and will play against the Wildcats next Tuesday May 22nd. Leading the Huskies in scoring was Trent W. with 12 points. Bulldogs use early lead to defeat Wildcats


The Bulldogs got off to a fast start Monday night, and head to the semi-finals of the LWBL. Using just 6 players, the Bulldogs never got tired as they defeated the Wildcats 48-34. The Wildcats tried to close the deficit early in the 4th quarter, but they could get no closer than 10 points. Leading the Bulldogs in scoring was Dylan S. with 18 points. Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Andrew S. with 10 points, Drew L. with 8 points, Isaac S. with 7 points, Marla R. with 3 points, and Lindzie N. with 2 points. Leading the Wildcats in scoring was Ian K. with 9 points. Illini defeat Bulls to reach semi-finals


The Illini got out to an early lead against the Bulls, and never let them get close in a 54-35 victory on Thursday night. The Illini advance to the semi-finals and will play the Wolverines on Thursday, May 17th. The Bulls will play the Irish on May 21st in the consolation semi-finals. The Illini were led in scoring by Andrew K. with 24 points. Also scoring for the Illini were Brianna M. with 14 points, Max D. and Max S. with 6 points, and Josie A. and Ryan W. with 2 points each. Half court buzzer beater helps Wolverines to victory over Irish



The Wolverines and Irish were trading baskets back and forth during the first half of the opening game of the LWBL playoffs. With the Wolverines leading the Irish by just 4 points and 2 seconds remaining, Joe S. took an inbound pass, lofted up a half-court shot, and nailed it! Joe S. was mobbed by his teammates and the shot gave the Wolverines a 7 point lead heading into halftime. The Wolverines carried the momentum over into the second half and defeated the Irish by the final score of 37-24. The win moves the Wolverines into the LWBL semi-finals, and will play again next Thursday against an opponent yet to be determined. The loss for the Irish moves them into the consolation semi-finals, and they will play their next game Mon. the 21st. Leading the scoring for the Wolverines tonight was Joe S. with 9 points. Also scoring for the Wolverines were Cade P., and Cassie N. with 8 points each, Charlie B. with 6 points, Anthony M. with 4 points, and Nick S. adding 2 points. The Irish were led in scoring by Dami I., Anthony G., and Dylan R. with 6 points each. Also scoring for the Irish were Claire F., Kristen A., and Matt F. with 2 points each.

During the LWBL playoffs, each team does a shoot-out. Each player shoots from 7 different spots on the floor with each spot ranging from 1-3 points. The player gets a choice where they shoot their 8th and final shot from. Each team sends one boy and one girl to the championship shoot-out which is held at halftime of the LWBL championship game. The winner from the boys division and girls division will receive a trophy for their victory.

Huskies defeat Panthers in preview of playoff game


The LWBL regular season came to an end Tuesday night with a preview of two teams that will meet up in the first round of the playoffs next Wednesday. The Huskies defeated the Panthers 25-15 with a great team defensive effort. The Huskies had a well balanced scoring attack with Riley G. leading the team with 8 points. Also scoring for the Huskies were Trent W. with 5 points, and Anna L., Nick B., and Jon M. with 4 points each. With the win, the Huskies end the regular season with a 2-2 record. The Panthers were led in scoring by Jayden J. with 9 points. Also scoring for the Panthers were Kyle L. with 4 points, and Danielle F. with 2 points. The Panthers finish their regular season at 2-2 as well.
